Smoke Detector/Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspection Procedure
Fire Inspection Certificates are required for the resale of existing homes. The Town inspects all work related to commercial fire alarms. The Town oversees connections to the Municipal Fire Alarm System (for local businesses) and enforces the RI Fire Safety Code as it pertains to the installation and maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems for all new and existing buildings.
Smoke Detector Certificates are issued on-site at the time of the inspection for those properties that are deemed to be in compliance. A re-inspection must be scheduled for any property found to be non-compliant.
